Growing up

As she flies with the grace
Of a bird through the air
Soaring
Looping and diving
She never tires
I've watched her before
Each time sensing her growing desire
Rising high above the earth
Gliding on currents of air
She wants to be part of the sky
Constantly dreaming of escape
She clings to her need for freedom
That's what she wants
That's why she flies
Now desperately searching
Anxious to find a way out

It's where I grew up
I've walked up and down
These tree lined streets
It's nice to be back
Strolling once more
Among familiar memories
The air's warm
A light breeze
Mixing familiar scents
I think to myself
Just around the next corner
Only a few more blocks
I know I'll come
To the end of my search
Then just as before
Slowly scenes change
As daylight fades
Comforting images retreat
Along with my delight
A feeling of gloom
Settles over my heart
Slowing my pace
Feelings of dread

Each day an adventure
Treasuring our time together
It doesn't matter if we talk
Or sit in silence
We know each other's thoughts

You make me laugh
I comfort you
You keep me safe
We share sunny days
Warm summer nights
Long walks
Holding hands
Knowing looks

Whether near or far
Sitting here
My back against a tree
Nature fills my senses
With sights and sounds
Of changing seasons
Cold crisp air
Moves through the trees
Under the warm sun
Snow melting away
The chill of winter
Passing into memory
As earth waits
The arrival of a new season
Spring makes her appearance
With promises of new life
Smiling she exhales
Her warm breezes
Blessing the air
With sweet scents
Surviving snow and ice
Turning tints of yellow
And bronze
New grass grows
In shades of brilliant greens
Wild flowers emerge

You're the definition of love,
You're the definition of friend,
You're the definition of my everything,
You're the definition of me and you, together to the end.
You make me feel elated, ten feet tall,
You loved me for who I am, and walked me through it all,
Your tender lips brushed against mine, my eternal downfall.
We've walked together, hand in hand, through the thick and thin,
You be my queen and I'll give you a king,
You're so patient, and sure we fell out, but we always had a special thing,
So, I thought I should tell you; you're the owner of this heart of mine,
And I ask you how long you'll protect it for?
So what do you sa

Play Your Five Card Draw Right
One;
My mother and I had a disagreement,
Her mind dead set like cement,
And your mother thought her racist,
But this was in her head but it was elusive.
Two;
You thought we had distanced apart,
But we didn't, not really, but in two you tore my heart,
I had big plans, for me and for you, and our love,
I was going to give you a great night, almost as good as something above.
Three;
I was your first kiss,
I was your first most things, especially this,
I think I was the first guy you snuck out to meet,
4am, remember that? On your sofa, real discreet.
Four;
I took you back twice,
Logically, perhaps thrice,
I still try to get yo

You're floating down the river,
On a blissful summer's day,
Basking in contentedness;
Your cares all cleansed away.
You're relishing the sunshine
And the gentle breath of wind
And every wound your worries struck
Is blissf'ly on the mend
But the water's speeding up until
You're losing all control
Your every action pulls you
One step further from your goal
Then your head slams into rocks
That were lurking down below
And the sound of rushing water dulls
As the current starts to slow
Now you're floating down the river
Without a care to fret
'cause the river rushed them far away
And left you to forget

When Alice Came to Tea
"You're going the wrong way child!" Alice sighed at the annoying voice emanating from the bright yellow envelope she held in her hand, "You need to go forwards!"
"But I AM going forwards you stupid piece of paper," Alice was getting thoroughly irritated by her invitation now, as it had been telling her the same thing for the last fifteen minutes of her journey. Two days ago Alice had received this invitation from the Mad Hatter, asking her to attend his tea party. Now, Alice had already met the Hatter and she was glad to say they had hit it off, so much in fact that he had told her his real name, which was Reginald, of all names. So she was
We are Living our Dreams,
Challenging Fate, Destined,
Unwritten is the Story,
Although many atime Spoken,
Narrated, the Tale of the Cycle,
Nightmares of the Stumbling Fool,
And still we Pray, Silent,
Lip Service to a Docile Idol,
Idle are our Actions,
Aspirations are are our Hope,
Driving Force, Fuel for Running,
As the Daily Grind wears Thin,
We retreat to that Safe Place,
That Realm of Imaginings, Dreamscapes,
Scope of Perspective,
As we fly through Sleepdust Stars,
Do we Awaken, and face It,
The Truth, Reality, the Harsh Glory,
Or do we fall Deeper, Comatose,
Into the Wonder, Mysterious,
In Which Do Dream
I am of fingers and pencils
Created smoke rings choking out hopes
Living off of neglected graves and stolen lilies
found only in the clipped strands of a mother's forgotten love
Who is it that I fool in this one-way fantasy
of misguided delight?
It is no one
that cannot burn my scent away from the inside out
That cannot slip downward as the spider
who leaves poison tears in the corners of my heaven
I am but bloodied ash
an antiquity glimmering in salt brine
I am hushed
and maybe soon
to become emptied
through loves stuttering heart
Listen...
while I await the entrance of a crying death
littered with crushed and singed

SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION TO BE HAPPY.
REALIZE IN LIFE THINGS AREN’T ALWAYS GOING TO BE THE WAY YOU WANTED.
SOMETIMES OBSTACLES ARE EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED TO HELP US GROW.
THERE ARE THOSE WHO STAY ANGRY ABOUT THAT
AND THERE ARE THOSE WHO WORK WITH WHAT COMES THEIR WAY…
DON’T LET TODAY’S DISAPPOINTMENTS CAST A SHADOW ON TOMORROW’S DREAMS.
